Borderway Sale of Calves

On Wednesday 8th February Harrison & Hetherington held their weekly sale of calves.  Topping todays monumental trade was Messrs Osborne, Cow Lane, Wigton saw returns up to £580 for a Blue bull calf and Messrs Martin, Tempest Tower was up to £550 for a Blue bull calf also.  Mr Osborne also topped the Angus bulls at £540.  An outstanding Charolais bull calf from Messrs Evans, Orchard House sold to £525.  Simmentals were up to £400 from Messrs Nash, Philgowan.  Limousins sold to £410 from Messrs McKie, Stoneybrook Farm.  Cally Mains Farming Company topped the Hereford section at £370. Black and whites topped at £210 twice from Messrs Irving Farming, Brunt Hill.  Ayrshire were up to £198 from Messrs Baynes, Marleycote.

Charolais heifers were up to £430 from Messrs Nash, Philgowan and Blue heifers made £430 on three occasions from Messrs Dun, Jeanfield.  Limousins heifers topped at £360 from Messrs Wannop, Waverton.
