Borderway Calf Sale

On Wednesday 15th February Harrison & Hetherington held their weekly sale of calves with trade remains in a league of its own with the dearest seen.

Top price today goes to regular consignors Messrs Wadsworth, Big Balcraig, Newton Stewart who topped at a whopping £595 for a 4 month old Blue bull.  Messrs Livingstone, Kirtlevale, Gretna topping the Limousin section at £540 and Messrs Vance, Portyerrock, Newton Stewart topped at £470 for a Continental bull.  Messrs Ramsey, Lodge of Kelton topped the Angus Section at £460 and Messrs Henderson, East Bowhill, Annan topped the Fleckvieh section at £440.  Messrs Ramsey, Gillespie, Stranraer was up to £345 for a Montbeliarde bull calf and  another  South West consignor Messrs Barrowman, North Knockglass, Stranraer was up to £150 for pure Holstein bulls and Messrs Haston, Dearham Hall was up to £285 for Holstein Friesians.

British Blue heifers were up to £560 again from Messrs Wadsworth, Big Balcraig.  Messrs Martin, Boggle Hall topped the Limousin Section at £395.  Messrs Wadsworth, Big Balcraig again was up to £390 from Angus Heifers and £215 was top price Hereford from Messrs Pigg, Gaitsgill.  More calves are required to keep up with the excellent demand.
