Middleton In Teasdale Show & Sale of Store Cattle

On Tuesday 14^th of February Harrison and Hetherington conducted one of the highlight sales of store cattle in Middleton in Teasdale Market.

A simply outstanding show of 234 stores were presented with a packed ring side of buyers ensuring a sensational trade was achieved. Over 50 purchaser’s bought cattle making Middleton the place to sell store cattle. With steers averaging £1228.46 + £197 and heifers averaging £1238.72 + £152. Before the sale however the show took place with this year’s judge being Mr Gethin Mathias, Carmarthenshire who after much deliberation decided to place the championship to the Limousin cross heifer from JE & AJ Mitchell, Parrick House which he later purchased for £2000. However, a new centre record was achieved for the reserve champion from JC & J White, Rigg Farm who sold a British Blue heifer for £8500 to LT & SE Sellers, Lincoln this calf was out of a pure Limousin cow and sired by Oaktree Gowrey. The same home went on to sell two more Limousins cross heifers to £3800 & £3400 with his run of 20 averaging an astonishing £1986. Steers topped at £1670 from JD Bentley, Lanehead for his first prize Limousin cross steer. Heifers were ferocious with highlights coming from S & RE Williamson, Littleburn who sold Limousin heifers to £1650 & £1620. HC Jewitt sold a pedigree British Blue heifer for £1800.
