Borderway Calf Sale

On Wednesday 22nd February Harrison & Hetherington held their weekly sale of calves.  A total of 284 fell below the hammer and were yet again met with a sensational trade.  Small younger calves were met with a rising trade exceeding everyone’s pre-sale expectations.  Topping the sale was a single British Blue steer from Messrs Reed, Moss Side House, Wigton who sold to £570. Aberdeen Angus topped at £480 for a strong steer from R J Raven, Crookdake, Wigton.  Limousins steers topped at £540 From D & M Irving, Brunt Hill, Wigton.  Charolais heifers topped at £420 from JM & GS Dockeray, Kelsick House.  Blues topped at £410 again from R J Raven Crookdake.  Dairy calves topped at £375 for a Fleckvieh Steer from R & A Harrison, Hazel head, Wigton.  Young Black and white calves saw the biggest rise with calves regular £70-£100.  With a good show of calves present encouraged an every growing ringside of buyers with all calves well marketed.
