Borderway Sale of Calves

On Wednesday 1^st March Harrison & Hetherington held their weekly sale of calves.  A tremendous trade for bulls once again with prices rising weekly saw bulls top at £620 and £615 for cracking Blue bulls from Messrs Wadsworth, Big Balcraig .  Again Messrs Wadsworth topped the Angus section at £560 for a topper of an Angus bull.  Messrs Fox, Windy Hill topped at £510 from Messrs Fox, Windy Hill.  In the Limousin section and Herefords  met a pleasing trade at £370 from Messrs Baxter, Park House. A lot of Fleckvieh calves forward today seeing a great return up to £350 on five occasions from Messrs Hyslop, Meinside and Connell Farms, Newton Stewart. Pure Friesian Bulls were seen up to £265 from Messrs Fox, Windy Hill and Holstein cross Friesians were up to £260 from Messrs Somerville, Braehill.

Heifers met a pleasing trade seeing up to £540 from Messrs Wadsworth, Big Balcraig for Blue heifers and £395 for Angus heifers from Again Messrs Wadsworth, Big Balcraig.  Hereford were up to £345 from Messrs Bainbridge, Park House and Simmentals heifers were up to £330 from Connell Farms.  Not a huge offering of Limousin heifers but were still up to £320 respectively from Messrs McKie, Stoneybrook.

Looking forward trade looks very positive and again more required weekly to keep up with ever growing demand.
