PRIME BULLS: Making up for last weeks low numbers, Borderway sold 123 prime bulls, seeing the very best, a shade easier and everything else achieving a similar trade throughout. Topping the sale overall was the heaviest animal of the day a 1038kg Simmental from Messrs Houldey, Kirtleton House, Lockerbie and was purchased by Alan Jarvis. A 880kg Limousin cross from Messrs Cooper, Hallmoor , Carlisle achieved £2362.80 purchased by A & D Meats. A 34 month old Bazadaise from Messrs Scott, Dinley, Newcastleton sold to £1961.82 for a 756kg purchased by Morgan Helliwell.

Top pence per kilo of 294.5ppk for a 675kg Limousin cross from Messrs Mitchinson, Beck House, Carlisle purchased by Field Fresh Trading.

Black & White sold to £1733.15 for a 681kg Fleckvieh of Bluestone Farming. Nethermains Farm, Duns purchased by Jewitt Meats. British Friesians to £1587.80 for a 680kg from Messrs Coulthard, Brisco Hill, Longtown purchased again by Jewitt Meats.

Top pence per kilo of 260.5ppk was achieved twice for a 646kg and 640kg Fleckviehs from Bluestone Farming and was purchased by Bowland Foods, Preston and Jewitt Meats. British Friesians sold to 239.5ppk for a 554kg from Messrs Preston, Wedholme, Wigton.

PRIME CATTLE: Yet another fantastic entry of 68 prime steers and heifers were forward, selling to a great trade throughout. Top overall animal was an outstanding 642kg Limousin heifer from Messrs Studholme, Nealhouse, Carlisle achieving a days top of £2173.17 and purchased by Owain Llyr, Ruthin. The same home sold a further two to £2170.13 and £2155.83 purchased by Steven Wilson Butchers Show, Corby Hill, Carlisle and Pioneer Foods, Carlisle. Simmental crosses sold to £1826.06 for a 693kg, 32 month old heifer. An exceptional run of Fleckvieh heifers from Bluestone Farming seen their run of 18 peak at £1695.71.

Top overall pence per kilo of 338.5ppk went to the aforementioned 642kg Limosuin cross from Messrs Studholme and to 337.5ppk for another from the same home. Messrs Little, Greenhill Farm, Wigton peaked at 319.5ppk for 594kg purchased by Owain Llyr. Fleckvieh s topped at 264.5ppk and was purchased by Border Meats, Lockerbie.

Less steers were on offer today, saw a days top of £2166.95 for a 759kg Limousin and to £2165.46 for a 748kg, British Blue both from Messrs Bowe, Bothel Parks, Wigton sold to Pioneer Foods, Carlisle. Messrs Bowe also sold the top priced Charolais cross to £2082.50 for a 700kg.

Top pence per kilo of 301.5ppk went to a 608kg Limousin cross from Messrs Philipson, Glebe Farm, Penrith.
