Borderway Calf Sale

On Wednesday 8th March Harrison & Hetherington held their weekly sale of calves.  An ocean of calves were present with a total of 520 falling under the hammer with strong calves easily sold with younger grass based calves proving harder to sell but still met a pleasant trade.

Topping the sale was a British Blue bull form Messrs Reed, Moss Side House selling for £600.  Angus bulls calves topped at £495 from T W Martin, Tempest Tower.  Limousin bulls sold to £460 from JM & GJ Dockeray, Kelsick House. DT & G Young Crummock Bank sold the topped priced Charolais at £465

In the heifer section the top calf sold at £520 for a British Blue from J H Errington, Lowther Low Moor. Limousins topped at £430 from I T & E M Carlyle, Bleaberry Rigg.  Dairy calves topped for a pen of 3 Fleckviehs from GW & M J Henderson, Annan at £340.  Holstein calves topped at £255 from J W Graves, Home Farm.  Grass bred dairy system calves met some resistance with top price coming from Mr Ward, Stoneykirk at £135 for a two week old Hereford bull.
