‘Ewes and Lambs begin to arrive and are met with a pleasant trade’
On Monday the 20th of March Harrison and Hetherington conducted its weekly sale of store and breeding sheep at Borderway Mart.
STORE SHEEP: Store lambs met a ferocious trade with a total average amounting to £77.56. Topping this section was a single Texel lamb from JA & FM Blackburn, Penrith selling for £105. Beltex sold to £86 from the same home and Cheviot lambs topped at £77 for a pen of 25 from RI Lamb, High Troweir.

BREEDING SHEEP: Ewes and lambs were met with a serious trade with all classes being keenly bid on. Topping the sale were a pen of a 3shr Texel ewes with twin Aberfield lambs at foot selling to £110 per life from Messrs CM & P Hall, Whichester Farm. Aged ewes topped at £90 for Texels with Texel lambs from Messrs Bowe, Midtown, Wigton.
