Kirkby Stephen OTM & Cast Cow Sale

Harrison & Hetherington Ltd, Kirkby Stephen Mart held their fortnightly sale of cast and OTM cattle.

Topping the sale at £1,952.09 was a 706 kilo Limousin cross cow which made 276.5p per kilo from Messrs Ward, Intack Farm, Carnforth. 

This same home also sold Limousin cows weighing 740 kilos to make 261.5p per kilo totalling £1,935.10. 

Topping at 277.5p per kilo was a 627 kilo British Blue cross cow which added up to £1,739.93 from Messrs Taylor, Gilts, Penrith. 

Holstein Friesian cows sold to £1,574.98 for a 863 kilo cow which made 182.5p per kilo from Messrs Chippendale, Wharton Hall. 

Dairy cows topped at 218.5p per kilo for a Holstein Friesian OTM from Messrs Sowerby, Town Head Farm, Drybeck. 

All classes of cows were every bit as dear with an overall sale average of 195.77p per kilo, £1,353.19 being achieved.
