Border British Blue Club Primestock Show & Sale

At Borderway Mart, Carlisle on Monday 20th March, The Border British Blue Club held their annual show and sale of primestock in conjunction with Harrison and Hetherington’s weekly primestock sale, which had an large entry of  head of cattle forward.

The pre-sale show was kindly sponsored by RI Stamper Haulage Ltd and the Border Blue Club. Judging was carried out with skill and panache by Mr Harry Emslie, who awarded the first prize steer and Overall Champion to Messrs Hunter with a Stonebyers son who sold to 689kg, 327.5ppk of £2256.48.

Taking the Reserve Champion was Messrs Crichton, Loughrigg Farm with his first prize Black heifer, selling to 620kg, 323.5ppk or £2005.70. 

Taking the top spot in the cow class was Messrs McGarva, Abington herd with a fantastic Black cow, sired by New Close Colonel out of Jobarde De Fooz scaling 986kgs and sold to 269.5ppk or £2657.27.

Finally in a strong class of bulls the Solway View herd belonging to Kevin Watret, Maulscastle claimed the first prize with a Black and White bull sired by Dafydd D’Ochain who sold to 655kg, 315.5ppk or £2066.53 to Jewitt Meats.
