Borderway Calf Sale

On Wednesday 22nd March Harrison & Hetherington held their weekly sale of calves with another massive show of 536 going under the hammer.  Vendors old and new flocked to sell calves with over 50 purchasers looking for all classes of calves.  Topping the sale was a 3 month Limousin bull calf from A W Preston, Wed Holme selling for £640.   British Blue bulls topped at £620 for a pen of 3 from A V Elwen, Netherfield.  Angus calves topped at £570 from T & A W Wadsworth, Newton Stewart.  Heifers topped at £465 from A V Elwen, Netherfield for a British Blue.  Limousins topped at £460 form R & A Harrison, Hazel Head. Dairy calves met a pleasant trade with top price coming from RJT & JM McDougal, Lockerbie for £255.  Grass based calves were a lot dearer on the week with young calves selling better than of recent weeks.  Many more calves can be marketed to vendors advantage.
