Harrison and Hetherington held its fortnightly sale of store cattle at Lockerbie Auction Market, also included in this week’s sale was the D & G Young Farmers Calf Rally Cattle. The sale started with the regular store cattle consigners. Aberdeen Angus Heifers sold to £1610 from Messrs More, Maxwellbank. Charolais bullocks sold to £1430 from Messrs Hyslop, Maryfield. Charolais bullocks at 9 months old sold to 328ppk and Aberdeen Angus’ at 8-month-old to 338ppk. Simmental Heifers sold to 300ppk from Messrs More, Maxwellbank.
An outstanding show of Young Farmers Cattle were forward and very well supported! Topping at £2100 for a Limousin Heifer from Messrs Crowther, Spittalriddinghill. Messrs Reid, Calfpark also sold a 14month Limousin cross heifer for £2000 and top price per kilo of 408ppk. Charolais heifers from Messrs Barr, Meikle Kirkland sold for £1950. Bullocks also sold to £1950 for a 12-month-old from Messrs Black, Erncrogo.
