SPECIAL DAY FOR THE ANNANDALE HERD
The 20th Annual Spring Bull sale held on behalf of the Border & Lakeland Holstein Club had an outstanding selection of bulls on offer from the best cows and the best herds in the UK. Bulls topped at 7,000gns to average £3854 per life with 50% of the bulls selling for or more than £4000. A packed ringside had buyers from across the UK with all the home nations recorded on the buyers list.
The show was sponsored by Finance For Farms and judged professionally by Hugh Kennedy from the recently dispersed Stair Holstein herd in Ayrshire. He selected Annandale Flynn as his Overall Champion who went on to sell for 3,500gns to Mr Ellwood from South Cumbria. Flynn was bred from the Farrah cow family originally developed at Granchester Holsteins; his dam was an outstanding producer with lactations over 13000kgs at 5% butterfat & 3.5% protein.
