Harrison & Hetherington Ltd, Kirkby Stephen Mart held their fortnightly sale of cast and OTM cattle.

Topping the sale at £2,299.23 was a 6 year old 866kg Limousin cow which made 265.5p/kg from Messrs Bland, Cotegill Farm.

Topping at 319.5p/kg was a Limousin cow weighing 688kg which totalled £2198.16.

Messrs Capstick, High Lane Farm, Newbiggin on Lune sold a 9 year old British Blue cross cow weighing 835kg to make 265.5p adding up to £2216.93.

Messrs Slack, Stoneriggs sold a 9 year old Limousin cow weighing 830kg to make 259.5p and £2153.85.

Beef Shorthorn cows sold to £2141.13 for a 894kg cow at 239.5p from Messrs Taylor, Low How Gill, Penrith.

Dairy cows topped at £1582.38 for 708kg Fleckvieh cow which made 223.5p/kg from Messrs Chippendale, Wharton Hall. With another Fleckvieh weighing 723kg making 207.5p totalling £1500.23.

Friesian cows sold to £1509.97 for a 8 year old cow weighing 742kg and making 203.5p from Messrs Hodgson, Soulby Grange, Soulby. With a 12 year old Friesian cow from this same home totalling £1440.48 (785kg 183.5p/kg).

The dearest trade seen for all classes was witnessed with an overall sale average of a whopping 230.56p/kg (+33.63p/kg on the year) and £1606.62 (+£256.99 on the year).
