Kirkby Stephen Prime Sheep Sale - Spring Lambs

Harrison & Hetherington Ltd, Kirkby Stephen Mart held their weekly sale of spring lambs.

Topping the sale at £220 (478.3p/kg) was the second prize Beltex cross lamb which weighed 46kg from Messrs Musgrave, Cardew Hall, Dalston, Carlisle.

Messrs Musgrave also topped the pence per kilo at 497.4p for a 39kg Beltex cross lamb which totalled £194.

The first prize Suffolk was awarded to a 55kg from Messrs Ewin, Black Syke which went on to sell for £202.

Our show was judged by Mr James Birkbeck, Soulby who awarded the overall championship to a 51kg Texel cross lamb which sold for £216 (423.5p/kg) from Messrs Ewin, Black Syke, Sandford and was purchased by James Birkbeck for Dowdings Butchers, Appleby.
