BANKVIEW TOP FOR SECOND CONSECUTIVE MONTH  

The May monthly dairy sale took place on a Thursday this month with over 300 animals on offer consigned from some of the best dairy farms in the north of England and Scotland.  In general the overall quality was not as consistent as it has been recently and this was reflected in the trade.  Prices topped at £2350 with the overall average coming to £1857 for milkers, this is the first time in over a year the average has been below £2000. 

Agri-King sponsored the sale with the top price going to the Bankview herd of the Walton family from Kirby Stephen for the second consecutive month.  Bankview Victor Cornelia sold for 2,350gns she was freshly calved in her second and was giving 50kgs, she was sired by Legend Maker Victor and bred from a VG88 Uno with lactations over 12000kgs. 

The Wolfa Holstein herd sold four very milky cows and heifers with two selling for £2250.  First was for Wolfa Unstopabull Annie who was fresh in herd second followed by Wolfa Crushtime Deroute.

The Cambus herd from Nether Pratis Farm in Fife sold a super impressive group of high yielding Holstein heifers and cows and topped at £2150 for Pacific Piston Pringle.

British Friesians topped at £1950 twice for milking heifers consigned by the Neil family from Thornington Farm in Northumberland.

The Swaites herd from Lanarkshire topped the Ayrshire trade at £2200 for a Whitecroft Nectar daughter who was giving 40kgs in her second. 

Cumrew Farming Partners sold 37 Irish Friesian and Jersey cross bred dry cows all due in June to the Angus, topping at £1800 for a cow due with her fourth.  This fine group of grazing cattle averaged £1323

Balcurvie sold a well bred and well-developed group of in calf heifers to average £1806 and topped at £2200 for a daughter of Delaberge Pepper that traces back to the Molly family from the Liscabank herd in Lancashire.

An outstanding group of bulling heifers from the Acrehead herd in Dumfries sold to a top of £1300 twice to average £1060.

The sale concluded with 29 heifer calves consigned by several spring calving dairy herd with Irish Friesian and Jersey cross calves topping at £480 twice to average £319.
