Borderway Store Cattle Sale

STORE CATTLE – On Wednesday, 10^th May Harrison & Hetherington held their weekly Store Cattle sale.  Once again another fantastic show of 720 were forward at Borderways May Special store cattle sale.  Some great runs of cattle were forward from both new and existing customers.  The majority of cattle forward on the day were 10-14 months of age.  Topping the sale of the steers at £2100 was an outstanding Limousin cross from Messrs Hewetson, Lords Close, Maryport.  British Blues sold to £1930 from Messrs Moffat, Kirtlebank, Gretna.  Beef Shorthorns to £1780 from Messrs Magnay,  Greenwrae, Gretna and Simmental crosses to £1760 from Messrs Richardson, Purdomstones, Lockerbie.  Aberdeen Angus to £1670 from Messrs Robleys, Demense, Brampton and Charolais to £1650 from Messrs Batey, High Knells, Carlisle

Heifers joint topped at £2100 for a superb Limousin cross from Messrs Laird, Sunnyside Farm, Cumnock another to £1840 from Messrs Cadzow, Duncrahill, Edinburgh and Jim Stuart, Heartview, Carrutherstown to £1800.  Messrs Cadzow also sold Simmental crosses to £1660, Messrs Watret, Burnside, Annan sold Charolais to £1620 and finally British Blues to £1550 from Messrs Moffat, Kirtlebank, Gretna.

Black and white steers saw a days top of £1530 for a Montbelairde from Messrs Magnay, Greenwrae and a pen of 4 Friesian from Messrs Moscrop, Rye Close Carlisle sold to £1460.
