On Tuesday 9th May Harrison and Hetherington conducted their May Show and Sale of store cattle in Middleton market. A good entry was presented which met a sound trade throughout. Many local buyers were present as well as from Melton Mowbray and Beverley ensuring all cattle were keenly bid for. Before the sale, the pre-sale show took place, and this year the Judge was young enthusiast Mr Harry Askwith, Crook who awarded the Championship to the First prize Limousin heifer from JR & CM Dalton, South Wellhope selling later to £1360. Top priced steer came from the same home selling to £1430. Heifers topped at £1440 from SB Hooper & Son, Brockersgill. Many more cattle could have been sold to sellers advantage.
