Kirkby Stephen Prime Sheep Sale -Spring Lambs

Harrison & Hetherington Ltd, Kirkby Stephen Mart held their weekly sale of 403 spring lambs were forward.

Topping the New Season lambs at £214 were 43kg Beltex cross lambs from Messrs Musgrave, Cardew Hall, Carlisle.

Messrs Musgrave also topped at 505.6p/kg for a 36kg Beltex cross lamb which made £182.

Cardew Hall also sold a pen of 40kg lambs to make £197 (492.5p/kg) with this home also selling 46kg to £200, 41kg to £195 43kg to £191 and 44kg to £190.

Messrs Ewin, Black Syke, Sandford sold 45kg lambs to make £212 with a pen of three 44kg lambs from this home making £210.

Messrs Sowerby, Terrys Farm, Ormside sold 49kg Dutch Texel cross lambs to make £198.

Texel cross lambs sold to £198 at 57kg from Messrs Wilson, Wood Farm, Carlisle with this same home selling 55kg Texel crosses for £190 and a pen of 52kg lambs to make £187. Suffolk cross lambs sold to £189 for 55kg and £188 for a pen of 52kg lambs from Messrs Wilson, Wood Farm.

A wonderful SQQ average of 386.49p/kg and an overall average of 378.66p/kg £162.38 for 403 lambs was achieved.

Beltex cross lambs sold to average £184 and 450p/kg.
