Borderway Calf Sale

On Wednesday 17th May Harrison & Hetherington conducted their Spring show and sale of calves.  One consignor made the 355 mile journey from Brora, Wick this morning to reap the rewards of the thriving calf trade Borderway has to offer.

Today we also held our Annual Spring Calf Show which was very well supported with 20 calves forward for Judging which was in the capable hands of Shaun Procter, Kirkby Stephen.  Mr Procter tapped out an impressive 2 ½ month old as overall Champion from Messrs Beard, Dormansteads which sold for £690 and purchased by the Judge.  Reserve overall went to a 2 month old Limousin bull from Messrs Livingstone, Kirtlevale which later sold for £610 again to the Judge.

Messrs Beard, Dormanstead topped the Bull section at £690 for his Champion calf in todays Show.  Messrs Naylor, Hill Green was up to £620 for British Blues today.  Limousin were in high demand topping at £610 from Messrs Livingston, Kirtlevale for todays Reserve Champion.  Messrs Hall, Whitchester Farm brought forward a great consignment of calves and were up to £500 and £490 respectfully for Limousin bulls.  Angus bulls were up to £600 and £590 from Messrs Martin, Tempest Tower.  Messrs Millar-Stuart, Inverbrora Farm made the 355 mile long journey to Borderway today with some Herefords which were up to £475 for an outstanding bull.  Messrs Black of Craighouse, Lockerbie was back in the ring today topping the Black & white section at £340.

Heifers were met with a nice trade again today topping at £580 on two occasions from Messrs Martin, Tempest Tower.  Limousin heifers were up to £480 twice from Messrs Naylor, Hill Green.  £480 was the top price Aberdeen Angus from Messrs Martin, Tempest Tower and £320 was the top price Hereford heifer from Messrs Millar-Stuart, Inverboroa Farm, Borora.

Borderway is in a league of its own with a great trade week on week .  More calves required weekly to fulfil the ever growing demand.
