East Bowhill Fleckvieh Dispersal Sale

Super Day for the East Bowhill Fleckvieh Dispersal Sale

Gordon and Jane Henderson from East Bowhill Farm near Annan dispersed their productive herd of Fleckvieh cows and followers at the Borderway Sale Centre in front of a packed ringside.  Trade topped at 2,900gns twice with the overall average coming to £2071, buyers from 20 counties were recorded from Orkney in the north to Cornwall in the south, Norfolk in the east and Fermanagh in the West.

Topping this wonderful sale was a young milking Fleckvieh heifer sired by Ion.  She had calved in February and was giving 41kgs.  She was purchased by Mr Dent from Co. Durham who purchased several high quality animals including a daughter of Eidam who was giving 50kgs for 2,600gns.

A small number of Holstein cows were included in the sale and they topped at 2,900gns for Gerrard Ovetime Ruby who was sired by Pine-Tree Overtime.  She was purchased by the Robinson family from Northumberland.

A beautiful group of 62 heifer calves sold following their mothers topping at 1350gns to average £885.  The majority of the calves were sired by the polled bull Milan who was an early Marokko son.  Topping this group of calves was a September born daughter of Eidam who sold for 1350gns to Mr Hodge from Norfolk. 

In Calf heifers topped at 2050gns for a heifer due in November to Merten.  She was sired by Ion and was bought by Mr Hamilton from N. Ireland. 

The bulling heifer were in excellent condition topping at 1600gns on several occasions to average £1470.
