Borderway Calf Sale

On Wednesday 24th May Harrison & Hetherington held their weekly sale of calves.  A larger show of 307 were forward which met one of the dearest trades recently seen.  Topping the sale was a Suckler bred Limousin bull from Messrs Martin, Hesleywell selling for £625.  Charolais cattle were an exceptional trade with top price coming from a single calf from George Ireland Livestock selling to £600.  British Blues topped at £590 from DT & G Young, Crummock Bank whose run of eight averaged £525.83.  Angus bulls topped at £570 from T W Martin, Tempest Tower.  Dairy calves topped at £545 for a Fleckvieh bull from Mr Andrew Vance, Newton Stewart.  Heifers topped at £585 for a British Blue from DT & G Young, Crummock Bank.  Limousin heifers topped at £460 from W Swainson & Son, Moor Park.  The topped priced Angus heifer came from T W Martin, Tempest Tower selling at £485.  A wonderful days selling was witnessed as calves reached new heights with a total sale average of £283.  More calves could be sold to sellers advantage.
