Borderway Beef Breeding Sale

On Friday 26^th May Harrison and Hetherington held their monthly Beef Breeding sale at Borderway Mart.

An outstanding show of cows and heifers with calves at foot was forward which credit must be given to all vendors for bringing forward some outstanding stock and one of the largest ring side of buyers seen at Borderway for some time. With 81 outfits selling for £4000 or more.

Messrs McAlister, Wester Thomason run of heifers and calves topped at £6500 for a British Blue cross heifer and heifer calf. Messrs Malone, Pitcairn Farm run of heifers and calves topped at £5500 and £5000 for a Blue cross heifer and heifer calf and Limousin cross heifer and heifer calf.

Messrs Livingston, Kirtlevale run of heifers and calves topped at £4800 for a Limousin cross heifer and calf.

Renton, Highlaws run of cow and heifers with calves at foot topped at £4800 for a British Blue cross cow and heifer calf.

Messrs Harrison, Aldermanseat Farm run of heifers and calves topped at £4000 for British Blue cross heifer and bull calf.

Messrs Wilson, Parsonage Farm cows and heifers topped at £4000 for a British Blue cross cow and heifer calf.

Bulling heifers sold to a top of £3550 for a Limousin from Messrs Twentyman, Osborne Farm, with British Blues selling to £2550 from Foley Bros, Mirlaw House. Many more bulling heifers sold on the year with an overall average of £2050.
