Haas Side Dispersal Sale

On Friday 26th May 2023 H&H held the dispersal sale of the commercial Haas Side herd on behalf of Gary Bell, Lockerbie.

This much anticipated sale caught the imagination of commercial cattle breeders across the UK and Ireland much due to the time and investment and quality of cattle kept by Gary, this was rewarded with the busiest ringside of buyers ever seen in Borderway with some unable to get into the ring at all, this was complimented by strong online interest which saw several lots sold to Northern Ireland, a service currently only brought to customers by H&H.

The sale was nothing short of extraordinary with only one outfit selling below £3000 with an overall average of £4267.70, for 95 cows and calves. The sale leader was a pedigree bred Limousin cow with heifer calf at foot, she sold for a commercial breeding unit record of £10,000 to local famers Messrs Hill, Whitewall Farm, Appleby in Westmorland, with another 22 units selling in excess of £5000 with the next leading outfit, a Charolais x cow with Limousin x calf at foot selling at £8000 to top commercial producer Lloyd Fowlie, Alford

Two bulls shared the top price mantle of £10,000 these were Wilodge Merlin and Huntershall Petronas who sold to Lloyd Fowlie and M/s Murray, The Throp respectively

In Calf heifers sold to £4800 for a Limousin x heifer who was purchased by an undisclosed purchaser in Co Down, Northern Ireland.
