Borderway Ewe & Lamb sale

On Monday 5^th June, Harrison & Hetherington held their weekly show of ewes and lambs.

A smaller show of 386 went under the hammer to a selective trade due to the current dry weather and worries of grass growth. Ewes with strong lambs sold to a premium with younger lambs being harder to cash. Topping the sale was the first pen in the ring from N & A Bainbridge, Laneside selling some Beltex cross shearlings with texel lambs to £135 per life. Aged ewes topped at £104 from first time customers J S Gibson, Thornton Towers who sold 4 texel ewes with single lambs. Mules with tingle lambs topped at £92 from young Mr Hayden Nicholson, Hen Moss. Hoggs topped at £130 for a strong single texel hogg with a shapey Beltex cross lamb from R Carr, Little Bavington, Hexham. A plainer show was forward but still met with a nice trade for good outfits.
