On Wednesday 21st June Harrison & Hetherington held their weekly sale of calves, which sale ane entry of 372 calves forward.
A much stronger show was presented with calves being slightly less on the week, due to customers taking advantages of the good silaging weather.
Mr Ed Foley, Mirlaw took the top honours selling a 2 month old Charolais bull to the new centre record of £770. The same home also sold bulls to £690, £665 and £660. British Blues topped at £610 from TW Martin, Tempest Tower. Limousin bulls topped at £605 from Mr Dennis Cadzow, Duncrahill Farm House.
Dairy bred bulls topped at £385 for a 2 month old Fleckvieh bull from Mr David Hyslop, Meinside. Herefords topped at £670 from RW Hebdon, Thirsk.
Heifers topped at £660 again for a Charolais from Mr Ed Foley, Mirlaw selling 2 month old heifers to £660. British Blue heifers topped at £490 from Messrs Beard, Dormanstead.
Younger calves still on milk were harder to cash, while strength lead the way, with big returns for shape and size. A good days trading was had by all.
Many more are required on a weekly basis to fulfil demand.
