Borderway Store Cattle Sale

STORE CATTLE – A good offering of 346 Store cattle forward at Borderways weekly sale, 42 more sold than catalogued.  Trade remains firm throughout with Chris and Terry Beattie rattling the bell with heifers selling to £2170 for a Limousin cross and their best steers to £2130.  The Beatties from Rattlingate, Carlisle saw a healthy average of £1923 for their six cattle, next best heifers was a Limousin cross from Messrs Grice, Newtown Farm, Carlisle peaked at £1980.  Charolais crosses to £1550 from Messrs Brough, Clappers, Wigton and Aberdeen Angus crosses to £1500 from Claremont Properties, Penrith.  Second best steer also came from Messrs Beattie, Rattlingate, Carlisle for a Limousin cross at £1900.  Messrs Gass, Nunscleugh, Carlisle peaked their run at £1840.  British Blue crosses to £1600 from Messrs Moffat, Kirtlebank, Gretna.  Charolais to £1490 from Messrs Routledge, Old Silloth, Wigton and £1470 for Aberdeen Angus crosses from Messrs Story, Bankend, Carlisle

Dairy bred steers peaked at £1450 for a Norwegian Red from Messrs Briggs, Southerfield Hall , Wigton and Holstein Friesians to £1430 from Messrs Watson, Howrigg, Wigton.
