Borderway Store Cattle Sale

STORE CATTLE – A small entry of 244 Store Cattle but yet again 268 forward and sold.  Trade looked very much on par with last weeks good trade as these were once again a very mixed and mainly plain show of cattle forward.

Topping the trade were an excellent run of Saler cross steers from Messrs Roper, Knowehill, Wigton achieving a days top of £1870 and a healthy average of £1753.33 for their six steers sold.  Charolais crosses to £1730 from Messrs Slack, Cockley Bank, Brampton.  Blonde crosses to £1620 from Messrs Mitchell, Grassknop, Penrith.  Limousins to £1590 from Messrs Moscrop, Ryeclose, Carlisle for a pen of three and the same vendors also sold Hereford crosses to £1580.  Heifers peaked at £1680 for a Limousin cross from Messrs Slack, Cockley Bank, Brampton and to £1600 for Aberdeen Angus crosses from the same home.  British Blues to £1500 from Messrs Roberts, Town Head, Cockermouth.  Simmentals to £1490 from Messrs Moffat, Thornby Villa, Wigton.
