Kirkby Stephen Prime Sheep Sale

Harrison & Hetherington Ltd, Kirkby Stephen Mart held their weekly Sale of prime sheep on Tuesday night, when 2490 sheep were forward consisting of 1,684 spring lambs and 806 cast sheep.

Topping the lambs at £166 were a pen of three 51kg Texel cross lambs from Messrs Sowerby, Terrys Farm, Ormside which were bought by Dowdings Butchers, Appleby.

Topping at 402.4p/kg were a pen of five 41kg Beltex cross lambs which made £165 from C&G Davies, Top Field Farm, Leicester, with this same home also selling a pen of 46kg Beltex cross lambs to make £160, and a pen of ten 44kg at £150, 46kg at £150, and a pen of fifteen 41kg lambs to make £150 all from Top Field Farm. The consignment of 59 sold to average 41.7kg 354.8p/kg and £148.15.

Messrs Sowerby, sold a pen of four 40kg Beltex cross lambs to make £150 (375p/kg)

Messrs Pickard, Cheney House Farm, Leicester sold a pen of twenty two 41kg Beltex cross lambs to make £150 (364.6p/kg).

Messrs Ewin, Black Syke, Sandford sold a pair of 51kg Beltex cross lambs to make £160.
