Borderway Sale of Store Cattle

STORE CATTLE – A much quieter day at Borderway with only 160 Store cattle forward due to the Great Yorkshire Show predominately.  Despite the tightening of numbers it certainly saw a strengthening on trade with all classes far sharper on the week with a larger ringside of buyers forward seeing vendors leaving delighted.  Top overall on the day was a Limousin cross steer from Messrs Grice, Newtown Farm, Carlisle achieving £1750 .  Messrs Moscrop, Ryeclose, Carlisle sold another to £1700.  Aberdeen Angus crosses to £1740 from Messrs Robinson, Gelt Hall, Brampton.  Charolais to £1700 from Messrs Routledge, Old Silloth, Wigton and Simmental crosses to £1650 from Messrs McColm & Brewis, Awhirk, Stranraer.  Heifers peaked at £1550 from Messrs Grice, Newtown for a Limousin cross and British Blue crosses to £1510 from Messrs Moffat, Kirtlebank, Gretna and Charolais to £1425 for four from Messrs Graham, Hill Head, Canonbie.  Black and Whites steers sold to a days top of £1570 from Messrs Moscrop, Rye Close, Carlisle for Friesians.
