PRIME CATTLE: A large show of 73 prime cattle was forward with trade being less throughout. Messrs Lawson, Hundith House run of cattle topped at 775kg, 283.5p, £2197 and 733kg, 287.5p, £2107 for Limousin cross bullocks purchased by Eric Hall and Alan Jarvis. Messrs Nicholson, The Lake Limousin cross and British Blue cross bullocks topped at 731kg, 287.5p, £2101 for a Limousin cross and 704kg, 297.5p, £2094 for a British Blue cross bullock bought by Eric Hall and Charles Kirkpatrick. Messrs Blake, Halfway Well sold the top priced Limousin cross heifer for 701kg, 289.5p, £2029 to Pioneer. Messrs Lawson, Hundith Hall sold a Limousin cross heifer for 640kg, 297.5p, £1904 to Morgan Helliwell.

PRIME BULLS: A small show of 66 bulls would be a better trade than expected with nine selling for 2000+. Messrs Hird, West End Farm sold a Limousin cross bulls for 803kg, 297.5p, £2388 and 802kg, 297.5p, £2385 both purchased by Charles Kirkpatrick. Messrs Goldie, Greenfield sold the top priced Charolais bull for 853kg, 279.5p, £2384 to Messrs Bowe. Messrs Logan Homebyres Farm sold a Limousin bull for 811kg, 293.5p, £2380 to Charles Kirkpatrick. Messrs Priestly, Cracrop sold Limousin bulls for 691kg, 319.5p, £2207 and 725kg, 293.5p, £2127 bought by Morgan Helliwell and Rob Metcalf. Messrs Graham, Hetherside sold a Limousin bull for 729kg, 311.5p, £2207 to Charles Kirkpatrick. Messrs Mitchinson, Beck House run of bulls topped at 645kg, 303.5p, £1957 and 651kg, 299p to Charles Kirkpatrick. CAST COWS: A large show of 302 cast cows was forward to less buyers on the week resulting in trade being less. Messrs Fowlie, Guise Alford run of cows topped at 897kg, 227.5p, £2040 for a Limousin cross 816kg, 239.5p, £1954 763kg, 219.5p, £1674 and 798kg, 207.5p, £1555 for a British Blue cross all purchased by Charles Kirkpatrick. Messrs Macdonald, Ladyhousesteads sold a Limousin cross cow for 754kg, 237p, £1790 to Michael Helliwell. Bluestone Farming sold the top priced Fleckvieh cows for 882kg, 173.5p, £1530 and 839kg, 171.5p, £1438 bought by Steven Helliwell and Sean McGimpsey. Messrs Armstrong, Randalinton Farm sold Holstein cross heifers for 704kg, 209.1p, £1474 and 698kg, 197.5p, £1378 to Les Fell and Sean McGimpsey. PRIME SHEEP:  Lambs came forward in fewer number this weekly with several vendors taking a week to put weight into their lambs with the slide in trade after our excellent result last week.

We again provided impressive returns despite being back on the week to average 274p over which levels at £116.58 per head.   Messrs Smith, Crumhaughhill, Hawick sold a great run of Texel lambs to average £147.96 which included the sale leaders a pen of 6 selling at £159 to Alex Riley.  Topping per kilo was Mr Thompson, Woodhead who sold 38kg Beltex at 400p (£152 per head).

A feature of the sale was a run of 93, 42kg Mule wethers from Messrs Fowlie, Aberdeen which averaged £109.50 per head.
