Lazonby Opening Sale of Store Lambs

On Thursday 27^th July Harrison & Hetherington held its opening sale of store lambs in Lazonby Market. A total of 1036 lambs fell under the hammer to a wonderful average of £86.15 (+3). This average is outstanding given the sale contained 300 mule wethers. Topping the sale was a single Texel tup lamb from Sian Jordan, Low Fauld selling for £136. The same home also sold 3 shapey Texel cross lambs to £127. Beltex topped at £128 from WE Lee, Lintley Farm whose run of 73 went to average £107.50. Suffolk lambs topped at £108 from SD & CM Hoodless, Highfield. Mules were a strong trade with a total breed average of £76.60. Highlight of the sale however came from the first pen in the ring from Phillip Dawson, School Cottage who sold a flashy pen of 25 to £85. Willie Watson, Saunders Close also sold a pen of 50 to £80. Topping the Mules was James & Rebecca Thompson who sold lambs to £92. A great start was witnessed with customers happy with the day’s trading.
