STORE CATTLE – A good catalogued entry of 330 forward with a further 50 cattle forward that were unentered seeing the firm sell 380 store cattle. Trade would see very biggest and best fleshed cattle sell easier to that of 2/3 weeks ago but on the whole all other cattle sold remarkably well with vendors leaving delighted. Topping the trade overall was a lovely Limousin cross steer from Messrs Beattie, Ratlinggate Farm, Carlisle. Messrs Robinson, Gelt Hall, Brampton sold Beef Shorthorns to £1770. Charolais to £1640 from Messrs Moscrop, Rye Close, Carlisle and British Blues to £1600 from Messrs Dart, Flothers Farm, Hexham. Herefords to £1560 from Rye Close, Carlisle and Simmental crosses to £1470 from Messrs Johnstone, Westray, Cockermouth.
Heifers to £1690 from Messrs Beattie, Ratlingate for Limousin crosses and to £1660 and £1650 from Messrs Weal, Birkshawhead, Lockerbie. Charolais to £1590 from Messrs Armistead, Pennersaughs, Lockerbie and British Blues to £1470 from Messrs Roberts, Town Head, Cockermouth and to £1450 from Messrs Slack, Newby Farm, Carlisle.
Dairy Bred steers peaked at £1430 for Friesian from Messrs Robinsn, Gelt Hall, Brampton and £1400 for a Montbelairde from Messrs Johnstone, Westray Farm, Cockermouth.
