On Friday 4th August Harrison & Hetherington held its “August Fair” sale of early breeding sheep. A sale of 1000 went under the hammer to average £186.45. Topping the sale was a single pedigree Texel shearling from James Harrison, Low House selling for £580. Suffolks met a serious demand with top price coming for a pair from Colin Skidmore, Needles Hall selling for £300. Seymour Farms sold a consignment of 102 Suffolk cross ewes to average a staggering £218.40 topping at £230 for a pen of 15. Dutch texel shearlings topped at £182 for a pen of 12 from William and Stewart Weatherson, Edges Green. Texel ewes topped at £220 from CB Parsons, Slealands for a flashy single 3 shear. A good trade for the first sale of the season with many customers delighted.
The next sale is the 18th August along with rams.
