Borderway Crop Sale

On Wednesday 9th August Harrison & Hetherington held their weekly sale of calves.  A strong show of 312 calves for a harvest day sold to a quieter ringside than previous weeks yet all classes a decent  trade and competitively bid for topping at £540 for British Blue bulls from T W Martin Tempest Tower who also led the heifer section topping at £465 for British Blue crosses.   Aberdeen Angus bull calves topped at £520 from Connell Farms Ltd, East Drummodie, Whauphill while Angus heifers topped at £340 on three occasions from RI & M Bell, Aigle Gill.  W Cruickshank & Co, Rattra Farm, Borgue and Connell Farm Ltd, East Drummodie.  Limousin bull calves sold to £505 from A & A E Harrison, Round Hill, Wigton and Limousin heifers topped at £450 from McNabney Bros, Barsalloch Farms, Newton Stewart.  Simmental bulls calves sold to £490 from Connell Farm Ltd who also topped the Charolais section with bull calves to £480.  Holstein bull calves were the trade of the day selling to £390 from McNabney Bros with several making over £200.  Hereford bull calves topped at £385 for a pen of 6 from Rebecca Moore, Wallhouses, Corbridge
