Lazonby Sale of Store Lambs

On Thursday 10^th August Harrison & Hetherington held its second sale of store lambs in Lazonby Market. A total of 1320 lambs went under the hammer with a splendid average of £83.50 being achieved. Topping the sale was a single Dorset lamb from John Clark, Penny Hill selling for £130. Texel lambs topped at £126 for a pen of 12 from Mr Willlie Lee, Lintley who sold a wonderful run of 91 to average £112.27. Suffolks topped at £114 from JJ Hope, Branthwaite. A strong show of mules was present with nearly 600 averaging £78.77. Topping the mules were Robert and Val Edmondson, Manesty who sold a pen of 23 to £93.50. Herdwick lambs topped at £94.50 from Messrs Potter, Rextory Farm. Swales topped at £49 for a pen of 13 from Chris Park, Burblethwaite. A pleasant trade was witnessed with good sheep meeting customers expectations but lots of lambs still being value for money.
