Borderway Store Cattle Show & Sale

STORE CATTLE - An excellent turnout of 780 store cattle forward at Borderway’s anniversary week show and sale whereby trade was seen to bounce back to well above vendors and buyers’ expectations. Topping the sale overall was an outstanding Charolais cross steer from Messrs Baty, Broom Hill, Carlisle this was the lead steer from a run of 25 cattle peaking at £1980. Messrs Kyle, Spoutbank, Brampton sold another to £1840. Limousin crosses from Messrs Barnes, Hutton Roof to £1960. British Blue crosses to £1920 from Messrs Priestley, Cracrop Farm, Brampton and Aberdeen Angus crosses to £1610 from Broomhill Farm. Heifers saw a top of £1840 for a British Blue cross from Messrs Foster, Solway View, Wigton. Limousins to £1830 from Messrs Priestley, Cracrop and Charolais to £1780 from Messrs Baty, Broom Hill. Messrs Slack, Cockley Bank, Brampton sold their best Aberdeen Angus crosses to £1550. Black and White Steers sold to a day’s top of £1220 for Friesians from Messrs Pearson, Wavercroft, Wigton.
