On Friday 18th August Harrison & Hetherington held its “Late August Fair” sale of breeding sheep in Borderway. A total of 800 head went under the hammer to a good ringside of buyers with good sheep meeting a fantastic trade with more commercial sorts harder to place. Topping the sale was a pure Texel from Mark Batty, Flimby Hall selling a single for £260. Suffolk shearlings topped at £175 for a pen of 9 from Seymour Farms. Millennium Bleu Shearlings topped at £195 from Messrs Harrison, Aldermanseat whose run of 101 Texel cross shearlings averaged at £213. Gordon Wilson, Bankdale sold a flashy run of 60 Texel cross ewes to level out at £199. Ewes topped at £202 for a pen of 5 from Anderw Kirkbride, Flimby Hall for a pen of 2 shears. Suffolk ewes topped at £200 for a single from A Irving, East Cliff. Mule 2 shears topped at £135 from T & H Armstrong, Somerville.
