Borderway Sale of Calves

On Wednesday 30th August Harrison & Hetherington held their weekly sale of calves with vendors leaving delighted and many purchasers left empty handed with values up £50 on the week.  Top price today goes to Messrs Naylor, Hill Green who’s outstanding bull calf topped at £650 in the British Blue Section.  First time consignor Messrs W Cumming, Barnsallie, Glenluce topped the Simmental section at £440 and Messrs Ramsey, Gillespie, Glenluce topped the Montbelairde section at £400.  Messrs Dockray, Kelsick House topped the Limousins at £440.   Angus bulls sold to £475 twice from Messrs Gillespie, High Ploughlands.  Fleckviehs sold to £395 from Messrs Vance, Portyerrock Farm, Newton Stewart.  Messrs Beard, Dormansteads, Roweltown sold the top priced Friesian calf at £240.  First times consignor WHS Hotts Ltd topped the Holstein Section at £360.

Heifers met a pleasing trade once again with Messrs Naylor, Hill Green topping the Blue section at £490 and £480 with Limousins.  Messrs Ramsey, Gillespie presented a tremendous Charolais and topped at £400 with Aberdeen Angus heifers from Messrs Martin, Tempest Tower selling to £390.
