Lazonby Store sheep Sale

On Thursday 24^th August Harrison & Hetherington conducted their annual August Show and Sale of store lambs in Lazonby Market. A big entry of 2615 went under the hammer with National buyers looking for all classes of lambs. A total average of £83.54 was achieved with both long term and short term lambs meeting a pleasant trade. Before the sale this year the pre-sale show judge was regular supporter Mr Haig Murray, Gretna who after much deliberation he awarded Champion to the first prize pen of mules form W & HI Watson, Saunders Close wand later sold 20 to £100 selling to the Judge. Reserve Champion went to first prize Continentals from Millie & Marie Faulder, Ewan Close who went on to sell for £138. Mules met a good trade with one of the finest shows of mules seen in Lazonby for some time. A total of 1105 went on to average £80.70. Highlighted moments came when Adam and Willie Watson sold 140 mule weathers to £81. Texels & Suffolks both topped at £128 from Millie & Marie Faulder however top price went to a single Beltex lamb from the same home selling to £139. Cheviots topped at £108 from Messrs Watson, Croglin Low Hall who’s run of 74 went to average £104.74.
