On Monday 4th September Harrison and Heatherington held its weekly sale of store lambs in Carlisle Market. A total of 1007 lambs were sold to a sale average of £84.11. Topping the sale was a pen of 4 Beltex cross lambs from Mr Howe, Cochrane Nurseries selling for £122. An overall Beltex average of £101.91 was achieved with Borderway leading the way for smaller, shapey lambs. Texel lambs topped at £109 for a pair from T Howard, Lees Hall, Haltwhistle. Mule lambs peaked at £82.50 for a pen of smart lambs from P & C Walton, Merry Knowe, Brampton. Dutch Spotted topped at £105 from Sian Jordan, Low Fauld for a quality pen of 13.
Many lambs can be marketed in Borderway with buyers looking for all lamb classes.
