“Nautical Tops For Warnelview”

The 35th Annual Autumn Border & Lakeland Bull sale once again proved that it is the No. 1 event in the UK for dairy farmers to select super sires all bred from impeccable pedigrees with outstanding longevity and impressive production.  Trade topped at 7,500gns with the overall average coming to £2859. 

The pre sale show was sponsored by Finance For Farms and was judged by Brian Davidson owner of the Errolston herd.  He tapped out Warnelview Nautical as his Champion Bull selling for the overall top price of 7,500gns to Mr Kellett from Hexham.  Warnelview Nautical who also won the Production Championship was consigned by the Wilson family from Wood Farm near Carlisle.  He was sired by Lindenright Apps and was a grandson from the herd icon Warnelview Final Cut Nita EX97 who has bred no less than 11 Excellent classified daughters to date.

Winning the Bell Trophy and the Overall British Friesian Championship was Winnoch Noble Lad who was consigned by Ian Brocket from near Glasgow.  He was a son of Beaufort Kabana and bred from a very productive British Friesian dam.  This powerful framed bull sold 2,200gns going to Mr Merideth in Aberdenn.  Eight bulls sold from the Winnoch herd including Winnoch Negotiator who sold for 3,200gns to Mr Adams from Stranraer. 

The Warnelview herd sold nine bulls to average over £3000 with Wrnelview Zodiac selling for 4,500gns to Mr Gregs in Devon.  Zodiac was sired by Renegade with his first seven dams all classified Excellent going back to Ocean-View Mandel Zandra EX95.

The Northshields herd owned by Andrew & Pat Wilson from Fife sold Northshields Bute for 4,500gns to Mr Falshaw from Lancashire.  He was sired by Warnelview Ellis with his first six dams all classifying Excellent and his King Doc sister is currently the highest milking heifer in the herd.    

Richard Bell owner of the Nerewater British Friesian herd consigned four exceptional individuals to average £3465 and topped at 4,000gns for Nerewater Reliant Lawrence who was the winning Junior British Friesian bull.  He was sired by Nerewater Reliant and was bred from the Blackisle Laura cow family, his grand dam was an Excellent 96 pointed cow that gave over 80 ton lifetime.  Lawrence was bought by My Dykes from Renfrewshire near Glasgow.

The top price British Friesian bull sold for 6,000gns and was consigned by Ian & Tom Blamire from near Wigton.  Whinnow Microwave was sired by Beaufort Milkman and had a PLI+£216.  His dam gave over 12500kgs as a five-year-old and his grand dam sold for 8,800gns in the Skyhigh Sale, Blackisle Pauline was also the dam of the famous sire Skyhigh Patrol.
