Middleton In Teesdale Prize Show & Sale of NEMSA Mule Gimmer Lambs

On Wednesday 13^th September, Harrison & Hetherington Ltd held their Annual Show & Sale of NEMSA Mule gimmer lambs within Middleton in Teesdale market. A total of 1330 went under the hammer to average £103.05 (+3) with running lambs being deciribed as the dearest seen so far this season. Before the sale however the pre-sale show took place. This year the judging was undertaken by Steve Deeming, Rugby and Mark Elworthy, Barnstaple with Iwen Gill, Melton Mowbray acting as referee. After much deliberation it was decided that the champion pen would be award to JC & J White, Rigg Farm which later went on to sell for £200. The second prize pen from N & A Bainbridge, Laneside went on to sell for £185. Tupping lambs met a delighful trade with all pens selling between £120-£140 while smaller running lambs were described as the dearest seen with many runners selling between £98-105 many more lambs could have been sold to vendors advantage with all customers pleased with the days trade.
