North Country Cheviot 'Park Ram and Female show and sale

Lockerbie, Sydney Place, Lockerbie, DG11 2JA

On Wednesday 13th September Harrison & Hetherington Ltd held its Annual Sale of North Country Cheviot Park Rams & Females at Lockerbie Mart.

FEMALES: With a huge increase of entries of females, a very pleasing trade, bucked the current trend of breeding sheep. The best of the sheep fetching a flying trade. While bigger pens of straight sheep sold to a good commercial trade. Topping the sale at £700 from Messrs Davies, North Synton for a pair of gimmers.

RAMS: Rams were also a tremendous trade overall, especially for the best sorts, seeing a very good average. However the bottom end of rams being slightly harder to shift.

Topping the sale at £12,000 was Messrs Dun Gilston, with Gilston Definitely Yes a Belmaduthy Blaze sone who sold to joint purchasers Messrs Thomson of the Hownam Grange flock and the  Kelso flock owned by Kelsocleugh Farming.

The next best came from the Allanshaws flock of Messrs Runciman. Allanshaws Destiny was a Carruthers Admiral son and joins the Philiphaugh flock for £11,000.

The Allanshaw flock sell the next best at £7500 this time a Wandylaws Belter son, selling to Messrs McAllister, Northern Ireland.

Messrs Robinson, Benrafton flock picked up a Sebay ram sired by Overacres Alert son for £6500.

Messrs Dun, Gilston sell Gilston Duke, a synton bred ram to Messrs Graham, Carruthers for £5000

The second ram to fetch £5000 was in the Allanshaw flock, sired by Sebay Xcitible, he sold to Messrs Armstrong, Northern ireland shared with Messrs Irvine, Northern Ireland.
