Middleton In Teesdale Prize Show & Sale of Swaledale Gimmer Lambs

Middleton-in-Teesdale, Station Road, Middleton-in-Teesdale, Co Durham, DL12 0PJ

On Friday 15th September, Harrison & Hetherington Ltd held their Annual Show & Sale Swaledale gimmer lambs within Middleton in Teesdale Market. A total of 4700 lambs went under the hammer with a total clearance and an average of £82.63 (-£3.77) being achieved.  However, Middleton market remains the only market to have a 100% clearance for all sales this week in the Dale.  Before the sale, a show took place with this years Judges, Shaun Procter and Mark Wills, judging with William Wallace acting as referee.  After much deliberation it was decided the Championship and winning the Stan Davies Trophy on behalf of the late Stan Davies went to David and Michael Allinson, West Briscoe who then went to sell their lambs for £240 to Messrs Mason, Lancaster.  This run of 312 went on to average a stunning average of £115.11.  The Reserve Champion pen went to Roy Nelson, Lainger House who sold to £190 to John Reed, The Knarr.  The sale was a great success with strong lambs meeting a strong demand with lesser lambs harder to place.  A big thank you goes to all vendors for their support and continued custom.
