Lockerbie 'Hill' Ram Sale

On Wednesday 20th September, Harrison and Hetherington Ltd, hosted the annual show and sale of North Country Cheviot Hill rams at Lockerbie Mart. An absolutely wonderful couple weeks for North Country Cheviot sheep at Lockerbie which was topped off with a day to remember for the Hill rams.  A huge clearance of 368 sold to average just shy of £1500.  All rams were well bid for from start to finish ensuring a strong commercial trade throughout.  £16,000 was reached twice, firstly from Linhope Farming Partnership and again from Sorbietrees Farms.   Messrs Douglas, Catslackburn sold one to £12000 while another two reached £10,000 again from Linhope Farming Partnership and Gillesbie Farms.  Another thirteen rams made £5000 and over Bowmant Farming and Messrs Graham, Carruthers, both selling rams to £9,000.   Bowmant Farming also sold another at £8000 along with Messrs Thompson, Hownam.
