STORE CATTLE – On Wednesday, 27th September Harrison and Hetherington Ltd held their weekly sale of store cattle. Yet another huge entry of 845 store cattle forward and sold at Borderways weekly sale boasting the highest number of cattle forward at any sale centre in the North of England and South of England. Topping the sale overall was an outstanding Charolais cross steer from Messrs Udale, Sideways Bank, Penrith selling to £1980 averaging a lovely £1670 for five. A Limousin cross from Messrs Slack, Newby Farm sold a second top price of £1880 jointly with Messrs Ferguson, Sonbed, Longtown with one of his Aberdeen Angus crosses. British Blues to £1810 from Messrs Story, Blackrigg, Longtown and Beef Shorthorn crosses sold to £1780 from Messrs Wilson, Blackrigg. Heifers sold to £1640 for a 12mth old Aberdeen Angus cross from Messrs Henderson, Querry Park, Lockerbie. Limousin crosses to £1620 from Messrs Slack, Cockly Bank. British Blues topped at £1600 from Messrs Park, Baldwinholme and Charolais to £1550 from Anderson Bros, Millriggs, Lockerbie. Friesians sold to £1340 from Messrs Dart, Flothers, Hexham.
