Kirkby Stephen Bluefaced Leicester Ram & Female Show & Sale

Kirkby Stephen, Faraday Road, Kirkby Stephen, CA17 4QL

Harrison & Hetherington Ltd, Kirkby Stephen held their annual crossing Bluefaced Leicester Show and Sale.

Topping the sale at £5,000 was a ram lamb from Messrs Archer, Low Carry House, Hexham which was bought by Messrs Jackson, High Bentham.

The pre sale show which saw some of the best quality that’s been on offer here at Kirkby Stephen, was ably judged by breed zealous and well known character Peter Lee, Morley Hill.

Mr Lee awarded the overall championship to the first placed ram lamb from Messrs Hunter, The Steel Farm, Hexham which made £1500 selling t Messrs Thompson, Townfoot, Melmerby.

The reserve overall championship was given to the first prize aged ram from Messrs Dawson, The Lodge, Kendal which sold for £2200 to Messrs Bousfield, Hegdale Farm, Penrith.

Shearling rams next let the trade at £2600 on two separate occasions, firstly from Messrs Wight, Midlock Farm, Biggar which sold to Messrs Fawcett, Skipton and also making the same money for another shearling from Messrs Carrick High Crossgill Farm, Aslton which sold to Messrs Nattrass, Shieldhill Top, Alston.

Ram lambs also sold to £2500 twice firstly from Messrs Archer, Low Carry House selling to Messrs Marston, Cockermouth.

Also achieving £2500 was a lamb from Messrs Reed, Lands Farm, West Gate which sold to Messrs Dixon, Haresceugh Castle, Penrith, this same home also sold ram lambs to £200 which was purchased by Bank House Farms, Carnforth.

The £2400 mark was also hit on two occasions both from Great Asby, Penrith with Messrs Hayton, Asby Grange selling their ram lamb to Messrs Reed, The Knarr, Slaggyford, and Messrs Brown, Asby Hall, Making the same price with their lamb selling to Messrs Ivinson, Hole House, Penrith.

Both Messrs Hayton and Messrs Brown also sold ram lambs to £200 eash selling to Messrs Sayer, Musgrave House, Great Musgrave and Messrs Collingwood, Ambling Gate, Eastgate.

Messrs Archer, Low Carry House also sold a further two ram lambs at £2000 eash selling to Messrs Thornborrow, Easter Dawyck, Peebles, and to Messrs Clarke, Howgill Castle, Penrith.

Abbey White, Settle sold here ram lamb to fetch £2000 selling to Messrs Ridley, Allenshields Farm, Consett.

Messrs Brown, Oak House, Ravenstonedale sold an aged ram to make £2000. Selling to Messrs Fleming & Wilson, Mungrisedale.

Messrs Hill, Whitewall Farm,  Great Asby sold shearlings rams to £2000 which was bought by Messrs Hayton, Asby Grange, Great Asby.

A packed ringside of potential buyers from near and far were in attendance and were rewarded with a top quality show of well bred rams on offer, which generated a wonderful atmosphere and buzz in the beem town! Making it one of the best Bluefaced Leicester sales seen here at Kirkby Stephen.

6 aged rams sold to average £1316.60

25 Shearling rams sold to average £1129.50

100 ram lambs sold to average £951.11.

An overall sale average of £1001.89 was achieved.
