Borderway Store Cattle Sale

STORE CATTLE – On Wednesday, 11^th October Harrison and Hetherington Ltd held their weekly sale of store cattle. Week on week Borderway delivers yet another whopping 700 store cattle to sell.

This week saw quality very low throughout as the weather takes its toll on the condition of the cattle. Despite this trade remains on fire with all quality and well fleshed cattle still unbelievably dear. Topping out sale today was on from Messrs Grice, Newton Farm, Carlisle’s run of steers seeing a day’s top of £1730. Messrs Wilkinson, Arkelby House, Wigton closely followed this day’s top at £1720 for another Limousin cross. Dairy bred British Blue crosses from Messrs Rudd, Grassings Farm Wigton peaked at £1600 as did Messrs Routledge, Brackenhill, Carlisle with another and two Aberdeen Angus cross steer from Messrs Ramsey, Millisle, Newton Stewart topped at £1530. Heifers sold to a top of £1670 from another west cumbrian Messrs Robinson, Pelutho Park, Wigton selling a Limousin cross to £1670, Messrs Mounsey, Wardhall Guards, Wigton sold his best to £1610 also. Messrs Wilkinson, Arkelby, Wigton to £1530 and Messrs Foster, Solway View, Wigton sold top price British Blue to £1520 best priced natives came from Messrs Halliwell, Summerhill, Carlisle selling Aberdeen Angus crosses to £1550. Black and Whites sold to £1490 for a Holstein from Messrs Halliday, Broathill, Lockerbie and another to £1340 from Arkelbly House, Wigton with Hesket Demain, High Hesket selling young Fleckvieh crosses to £1250.
