Kirkby Stephen 'Luke Fair' Sale of Store Cattle

Harrison & Hetherington Ltd, Kirkby Stephen Mart held their annual ‘Luke Fair’ sale of store cattle on Monday.

Topping the sale at £2130 on two separate occasions was firstly a 18 month old British Blue cross steer from Messrs Maughan, Ash Garth, Great Asby, with a Limousin cross steer also selling for £2130 from this home.

Messrs Maughan also sold Limousin cross steers to £2110, £2090, £2020, £1990, £1960, £1950 and British Blue cross steers to £2070, £2050, £200, £1990 and £1960 with British Blue cross heifers selling to £1900 and £1850 all from Ash Garth.

Messrs Taylor, Waterhouses, Asby sold a 17 month old Limousin cross steer to make £2120, with four Limousin cross steers making £1970 and another at £1950 from this home.

Messrs Sowerby, Terrys Farm, Ormside sold 17 month old British Blue cross steers to £2090 on two occasions and British Blue cross steers to £1990.

Messrs Paul, Sawbridge Hall, Bleatarn sold Limousin cross steers to £2080, and £1970 with Limousin cross heifers selling to £1860 from this home.

Messrs Park, Kirklands Farm, Holmrook sold a 17 month old British Blue heifers to make £2020.

Strong smart bred cattle were a flying trade being one of the dearest seen, with steers averaging £1509.76 (up £204.35 on the year) heifers averaged £1371.91 (up £220.45 on the year)

Thirteen cattle sold between £2000-£2130.
